Why we built BlenSite

An honest take on why we're shipping yet another website builder — and who we built it for.
If you need a business website in Germany today, you have three options: a drag-and-drop builder like Wix or Jimdo, an AI generator like Lovable or v0, or an agency. All three share the same blind spot. None of them solve what German small businesses actually run into when they try to ship a website on a Tuesday afternoon.
What German SMBs actually need
I spent the last few months talking to tax advisors, tradespeople, restaurant owners, and shop owners around Stuttgart. The wishlist was the same every time — and it doesn't match what the incumbents are selling:
- A website that goes live in an hour, not over two weeks.
- An Impressum and a Datenschutzerklärung (privacy notice) that are legally defensible without paying a lawyer to retrofit them.
- SEO that works out of the box — sitemap, structured data, OG images — without hiring an "SEO consultant".
- A cookie banner that handles GDPR consent correctly, not just an "Accept all" button.
- Multi-language support, where it's needed. Plenty of Stuttgart businesses serve international customers.
None of these are novel. None of them rewrite the rulebook. But together, in one product, at a price a five-person business can pay — that combination doesn't exist on the market. Until now.
How we differ from Lovable, Bolt, and v0
First-generation AI generators are impressive, but they are not products for German SMBs. They produce React code in a sandbox. The moment you need a domain, a legally compliant Impressum generator, EU-hosted infrastructure in Frankfurt, and a working cookie banner, you're on your own.
BlenSite is built differently: the AI generates a complete Next.js site that already includes an Impressum template, a privacy notice with Art. 6 GDPR references per processing activity, the CCM19 cookie-consent integration — and ships it on S3 plus CloudFront in Frankfurt. No sandbox toy, no "you'll need to deploy this yourself", no US-hosted surprise.
I need a website that shows my clients I'm serious. Not one that shows my clients I think AI is cool.
What's in the V1 release
Specifically — because our documentation rule says: don't promise anything that isn't live. What you get on blensite.com today:
- Site generation in under 10 minutes — from the chat to the published subdomain.
- Three tiers — Starter at 49 EUR/month, Business at 99 EUR/month, Premium at 199 EUR/month. No setup fees, no contracts.
- Complete legal pages — Impressum and privacy notice under German law, prefilled from the onboarding wizard answers.
- A built-in blog with a Markdown editor — no separate WordPress install, no plugin sprawl.
- CCM19 cookie consent preconfigured per site — no extra vendor contracts to sign.
- Multi-language for the Business and Premium tiers — German and English in V1, more EU languages from V2.
What's honestly still missing
We build in public. That means V1 has gaps, and we're not hiding them.
- Custom domains today require a DNS switch with a manual confirmation step. V2 automates this.
- There is no e-commerce. If you want an online shop, you're in the wrong place.
- The reseller program is invitation-only in V1. Self-service comes later, once we've made the volume-based billing production-stable.
We say this because a vague launch promise on a marketing page is a lie if you don't know when that promise comes due.
Why we're shipping now
Because German SMBs deserve a solution they can read, that they can afford, and that isn't bolted to a US hosting provider. We're a company registered in Stuttgart, hosted in Frankfurt, with German contracts and support for the languages our customers use to reach their own customers.
